The number of *IBMers on Facebook* is less than than number of IBMers on Beehive. I definitely don't claim Beehive has over 100 million active users. :)

Amazing job with the paper. But I still don't get how we can equate the number of folks in the Facebook group to the Beehive Community. Maybe you are just saying Beehive's getting bigger by the day? Yes, definitely!

From the paper, yes, Social Networking is definitely becoming an integral part of work-life. It really gives us a chance to know who the guys-in-blazers really are, behind that face mask. People are more at home speaking to friends from college. So, colleagues catching up on such networking sites get to know more about each other and are sure to have a better relationship.

Hi Aswin, I think that is probably a very common scenario for an IBMer that uses Facebook -- it is ideal for keeping up with friends. Here's a short paper I wrote about what IBMers are doing on Facebook: http://www.joandimicco.com/pubs/dimicco-millen-group07.pdf

Hi Joan,

Am a random visitor from IBM, through many many links.

There is one point we are missing here. I am on Facebook, but purely to keep in touch with friends.. I am not part of the IBM network. And i am sure there are many more like me. :)

Does that bring a new angle in?

That's awesome!! I wish I could join Beehive. Maybe you should institute a "friends and neighbors" membership status.
