"I also had 8lbs of Bit O’ Honey in the bag, but that’s another story."

Oh my!!! THAT is why your luggage was stolen, my friend.

Wow Joanie, quite an adventure! Now we need a fashion show of your new UK look.. I totally agree on the over packing. I've gotten good at limiting myself to max of 2 pairs of shoes, but I bring too much other stuff and usually regret it.

Now you're going to be one of us, never check a bag folks. American lost my bags on the way to Brazil once and I've almost never checked a bag since...they're not to be trusted! But I got my bag back in a day, nothing close to your saga.

Welcome back!

Glad you made it back! Love the reviews of various airport food. Also, I can absolutely confirm that Italian trains are ridiculously slow. I caught one in Switzerland, and after a week of Swiss efficiency, the "relaxed" nature of how the Italians run things was quite a shock. It would be charming if you didn't miss your plane as a result!

Also regarding #8: I totally agree that we all overpack, and we don't realize it until we're stuck without -- and yet we survive, often quite comfortably. And I also had my bags miss a flight back from Europe, so I was able to cruise home with only a shoulder bag and then have the airline deliver my bag directly to my apartment. Convenient!

Hey Joanie - I am so sorry to hear about everything that happened to you during this trip. Unbelievable. Hopefully you will get your suitcase soon. And I hope you got to enjoy your time at CHI and Italy despite the madness. Talk to you soon!
